If you are not sure whether to go beginner or improver, go for the beginner lesson as we can improvise and adjust to each individuals ability during the session.

Ma Simes Surf School at Whitesands, St. Davids, Pembrokeshire has been firmly established as one of the UK's longest running and most highly reputable surf schools. With a highly experienced team of coaches, we can cover all of your needs whether you are a first-time novice or an experienced surfer. However, do take note that we only teach students aged 8 years old and above.

If you have never surfed before, this is the lesson for you! This program is open to any age of surfer. We begin by teaching all the basics on the beach before heading to the water to practice and perfect these newly learnt skills!

All equipment will be disinfected between lessons and social distancing will be respected at all times.

When you arrive at the surf school, we will introduce you to your instructors and provide you with all the equipment you will need. Through our basic lessons, we will provide you with the knowledge you need to take care of yourself and your equipment in the surf whilst ensuring you are up and riding by the end of the session.

Improver Lessons

Once you have had a surf lesson and practiced a bit, the improver session will iron out any bad habits that you may have developed. The instructor will coach you on paddling and pop-up techniques, standing, and turning. When you arrive at the surf school, we will introduce you to your instructors and provide you with all the equipment you will need.

Through our improver lessons, we will provide you with the knowledge you need to take care of yourself and your equipment in the surf whilst ensuring you gain the knowledge to develop and improve your surfing techniques.

Lesson Duration: 2 Hours

Rate: £45/person per session (Including Equipment)

No. of Students: Maximum of 8 People per Session

Private surf lessons 1-4 persons

In our private coaching sessions, we offer you a chance to spend as much time in the water as needed as you learn at your pace. You will receive the constant and undivided attention of an SGB-ISA surf coach and lifeguard throughout each session. Moreover, you will be able to use our extensive selection of equipment held at the surf school.

Lessons are run on a daily basis. However, times vary to allow for the best tides and conditions each day.

Price: £75 per Person (Including Equipment) Plus the Option to Hire Afterwards

Lesson Duration: 1.5 Hours

Even if you have never surfed before, this is the lesson for you. It is open to any age. We begin by teaching all the basics on the beach before heading into the water to practice and perfect these newly learnt skills. When you arrive at the surf school, we will introduce you to your instructors and provide you with all the equipment you will need.

During our one-to-one lessons, we will provide you with the knowledge you need to take care of yourself and your equipment in the surf. We ensure that you will be up and riding by the end of the hour-and-a-half session.
